Favorite was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana, and raised in Sulphur, Louisiana. He graduated from Louisiana State University and the Tulane University Law School. After law school, he served as a law clerk to Judge Edith Brown Clement of the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He then worked as an attorney in private practice in Lake Charles.
Favorite has also been active in civic and community affairs. He has served as the president of the Lake Charles Bar Association and the Calcasieu Parish Law Library Board. He is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.
Favorite is a Republican. He has been a delegate to the Republican National Convention and has served as the chairman of the Calcasieu Parish Republican Party.
As United States Attorney, Favorite oversaw the prosecution of federal crimes in the Western District of Louisiana. He also represented the United States in civil litigation.
Favorite resigned as United States Attorney on January 1, 2021. He was succeeded by Duane Evans.
