Where do you battle your rivals dad in Pokemon platinum?

You don't battle your rival's dad in Pokemon Platinum. Your rival's dad, Mr. Stone, is the leader of the Hearthome City Gym.

You battle him as part of the main storyline, after you've completed the previous Gym battles. He specializes in Rock-type Pokemon.
