Ikard signed with the Washington Redskins in 2014 as an undrafted free agent. He played for four seasons with the Redskins before retiring due to injury.
Ikard was born and raised in Oklahoma City. He attended Bishop McGuinness Catholic High School, where he played football and basketball. He was a two-time all-state selection in football and was named the Oklahoma Gatorade Player of the Year in 2008.
Ikard attended the University of Oklahoma, where he played for the Oklahoma Sooners football team from 2009 to 2013. He started all 51 games of his college career at center.
Ikard was a three-time All-Big 12 selection and was named the Big 12 Offensive Lineman of the Year in 2012. He was also a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection and was named a first-team Academic All-American by the American Football Coaches Association in 2012 and 2013.
Ikard signed with the Washington Redskins as an undrafted free agent in 2014. He played in all 16 games for the Redskins as a rookie, starting 12 games at center.
In 2015, Ikard started all 16 games for the Redskins at center. He was placed on injured reserve on December 17, 2015, after suffering a knee injury.
In 2016, Ikard started the first two games of the season at center before suffering a concussion. He missed the next two games before returning to the starting lineup for the remaining 12 games of the season.
In 2017, Ikard started the first two games of the season at center before suffering another concussion. He missed the next four games before returning to the starting lineup for the remaining 10 games of the season.
Ikard retired from the NFL on August 1, 2018, due to a combination of injuries and concussions.
After retiring from the NFL, Ikard joined the Oklahoma Sooners football team as a student assistant coach. He was later named the Sooners' offensive quality control coach.
In 2020, Ikard was hired as the offensive line coach at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
