What is Park Duvalle?

Park Du Valle is a neighborhood south of downtown Louisville, Kentucky. It is an area of approximately 1 square mile (2.6 km2) and is bordered by the Ohio River on the north and the neighborhoods of Old Louisville and Shawnee on the south and east, respectively. The neighborhood was established in 1831 by John H. B. Latrobe and was named for Governor of Kentucky Gabriel Slaughter. The neighborhood is characterized by its numerous Victorian-style homes, many of which have been restored to their original grandeur. Park Du Valle is also home to a number of parks and green spaces, including the eponymous Park DuValle and Louisville Water Tower Park. The neighborhood is also home to a number of cultural institutions, including the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts and the Speed Art Museum. Park Du Valle is a popular neighborhood for young families and professionals, and is considered to be one of Louisville's most desirable neighborhoods.
