Why did the globe theatre close for good?

The Globe Theatre did not close for good. Its first iteration burnt down in 1613 and was rebuilt in the following year while remaining operational during the Restoration until it was closed in 1642 due to the rising popularity of indoor theatres and religious opposition. The modern reconstructed theatre opened in 1997 and operates to this day.
