When did the globe theatre get knocked down?
The Globe Theatre was originally built in 1599, and it was dismantled and rebuilt in 1613 after it was destroyed by a fire caused by a misfired cannon during a performance of Henry VIII. The rebuilt theatre operated until 1642 when it was closed down by the Puritans who considered the theatre to be immoral and a source of sin. The original Globe Theatre was finally knocked down in 1644 to make way for housing.
