How to Pull a Tablecloth for a Magic Trick

Pulling a tablecloth out from under a table full of dishes, utensils and perhaps a flower in a vase is one of the oldest tricks in the book. But that doesn't mean it's not as impressive today as when it was first put in the book. The trick impresses people only when performed successfully. If you don't do it correctly, you end up not only with broken dishes on the floor and a crowd full of laughter at your folly.

Things You'll Need

  • 1 tablecloth, preferably without a hem
  • 1 flat table, preferably with a straight edge
  • Enough assorted plates, cups, glasses and utensils for at least one place setting
