What does the priest ask Oedipus to do in

In Sophocles' play "Oedipus Rex," the priest asks Oedipus to find out who killed the previous king, Laius, and prosecute the murderer. Oedipus takes up this task and eventually discovers that he himself, unknowingly, killed Laius and married his own mother, Jocasta.
