Is Phantom a Opera or Musical?

Phantom of the Opera is both an opera and a musical.

The original Phantom of the Opera is an opera composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, with lyrics by Charles Hart and Richard Stilgoe. It is based on the 1910 novel of the same name by Gaston Leroux. The opera premiered in London's West End in 1986 and has since been performed around the world.

In addition to the original opera, there have also been several adaptations of the story into musical theatre productions. These musicals typically feature songs and dialogue that are not present in the original opera. Some of the most notable musical theatre adaptations include the 1988 Broadway production, the 1991 Australian production, and the 2004 Las Vegas production.
