What was Giovanni da Verrazano destination?

Giovanni da Verrazano's destination was the North American coastline in search of a westward passage to Asia. He was commissioned by King Francis I of France to find a new route to the Orient that would bypass the Spanish and Portuguese control of existing trade routes.

However, it's important to clarify that he didn't have a single, specific location in mind. His expedition, which took place in 1524, aimed to explore the coastline from the Carolinas to Newfoundland.

Though he didn't discover a route to Asia, he mapped a significant portion of the North American coastline, which helped to establish France's presence in the New World.
