Does Agamemnon successfully appeased Athena by staying an extra day at Troy to give her more sacrifices?

Agamemnon did not appease Athena by sacrificing, but rather by returning Chryseis to her father along with many gifts. However, in order to make up for the loss, Agamemnon decided to take Briseis as his slave, which offended Achilles and ignited a chain of events that led to the events of the Iliad.
