What nationality was Schubert?
Franz Schubert was Austrian. He was born in the Himmelpfortgrund district of Vienna, Austria on 31 January 1797. He was the son of Franz Theodor Schubert, a schoolmaster, and Maria Elisabeth Vietz, a housewife. Schubert showed musical talent at an early age, and he studied music with his father and other local musicians. He later attended the Stadtkonvikt, a boarding school for choristers, in Vienna. Schubert died of typhoid fever in Vienna on 19 November 1828, at the age of 31.
