How do you punctuate the name of an opera in a letter?

When writing the name of an opera in a letter, it should be italicized or underlined to indicate that it is the title of a work of art. For example:

* "I'm going to see *La bohème* at the opera tonight."

* "Have you heard the new recording of Verdi's _Aida_?"

If you are handwriting the letter and cannot italicize or underline, you can place quotation marks around the opera title instead. For example:

* "I'm going to see "La bohème" at the opera tonight."

* "Have you heard the new recording of Verdi's "Aida"?"
