What happens during the Lion King musical?

Act I

- The show opens with the animals of the Pride Lands gathering to celebrate the birth of Simba, the son of Mufasa and Sarabi.

- After the celebration, Simba's wicked uncle Scar plots to kill Mufasa and Simba so that he can become king.

- Scar lures Mufasa and Simba to a gorge, where he causes a wildebeest stampede. Mufasa is killed, and Simba is led to believe that he was responsible for his father's death.

- Simba runs away from home and meets Timon and Pumbaa, a meerkat and warthog who teach him about their carefree lifestyle.

Act II

- Years later, Simba is a grown lion living with Timon and Pumbaa.

- Nala, Simba's childhood friend, finds him and tells him that the Pride Lands are in danger under Scar's rule.

- Simba reluctantly agrees to return to the Pride Lands and challenge Scar for the throne.

- Simba defeats Scar in a battle, and he is crowned king.

- The show ends with the animals of the Pride Lands celebrating Simba's coronation.
