Hairspray, the Tony Award-winning musical, had its world premiere on August 11, 2002, at the Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre. The musical was then staged at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway, where it opened on August 15, 2002, and ran until January 4, 2009.
