What does Stay mean in Romeo and Juliet?

"Stay" in Romeo and Juliet is spoken by Juliet towards the end of the play (5.3.162 - 164) upon discovering Romeo dead. At this point, Juliet pleads with death herself to grant her the ability to remain "stay" so that they can be buried side by side in their families' ancestral graves rather than separated.
