The Zulu & Zeide Series is written by Alyssa Bergin. The main characters in the series are 85 year old Zeide, and 9 year old Zulu. They embark on adventures which center around the values and traditions of Judaism and the Jewish People.
Book 1: Zulu & Zeide: Out to Sea with Mr. Noah!
It is the Sabbath afternoon, and Zeide is napping after a delicious lunch of Kugel. Zulu, who is nine, is restless. So Zeide decides to tell Zulu a story about Noah's Ark and the great flood. This story captivates Zulu, who soon is deep into his own imaginary trip to sea.
Book 2: Zulu & Zeide: To Egypt We Go with Joseph!
Zulu is excited to hear that Zeide is going to babysit him one day. He quickly learns that not everything is as it seems, as Zeide tells the story of Joseph and introduces Zulu to the wonders of Egypt.
Book 3: Zulu & Zeide: Go Into the Wilderness with Moses
Zeide's backyard becomes the desert; his laundry basket, a boat carrying baby Moses; and his bedsheets transform into a tent in which Moses talks with G-d. Zulu soon learns that one can communicate with G-d at all times, just by talking.
Book 4: Zulu & Zeide: Stand Tall with Joshua
After a big storm knocks down the family sukkah, Zulu & Zeide embark on a journey to Jericho, where they join with the Israelites to help Joshua bring down the walls of the city and reclaim the Holy land from the Canaanites.
Book 5: Zulu & Zeide: Go On a Journey withJonah
Zulu and Zeide are off on a new adventure together, embarking on the seas for a journey to Ninevah, where the prophet Jonah is swallowed by a gigantic fish and learns the importance of teshuvah (repentance).
Book 6: Zulu & Zeide: Build the Temple with King Solomon
Zeide becomes King Solomon and, with Zulu's help, builds a magnificent Holy Temple. With the help of an emerald ring, Zulu has magical power to move things with his mind, and he uses his power to help with the construction.
