In the beginning of Act II or crucible what does John Proctor do in town that makes Elizabeth angry?

In the beginning of Act II of The Crucible, John Proctor goes to town to attend a meeting at the meeting house. At the meeting, he challenges Reverend John Hale's authority and questions the legality of the witchcraft trials. He also argues that some of the girls who have accused others of witchcraft may be lying or mistaken. His actions and words anger Elizabeth because she is afraid that they will put their family in danger. She is worried that John will be accused of witchcraft himself and that their children will be taken away from them.
