How does Macbeth feel with his new found power?
With his newfound power, Macbeth feels ambitious, confident, and fearless. After the witches prophesied that he would become king, Macbeth could not let go of the desire for power. He embraced the evil within him and murdered King Duncan to ascend the throne. Macbeth's ambition drove him to commit regicide and set him on a path of paranoia, guilt, and remorse. Shakespeare demonstrates the corrupting influence of power through Macbeth's character. In the beginning of the play, he is depicted as a loyal subject and valiant soldier. However, his unchecked ambition and desire for power transform him into a ruthless tyrant who is willing to sacrifice anything to maintain his position.
