The audience is supposed to feel sympathy and admiration for Paris in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. He is presented as a noble and honourable young man who is genuinely in love with Juliet. Paris is not aware of the love between Juliet and Romeo, and the audience is aware that he is being used by Capulet to further his own political ambitions. Despite this, the audience still feels sorry for Paris and understands his plight.
