Why does Uncle Monty take the children to Peru In A series of unfortunate events movie?

In the movie adaptation, Uncle Monty is only mentioned in passing, and does not accompany the children to Peru. Instead, Mr. Poe takes them to Peru after they find out it is the home base of the VFD organization.
