How does Juliet feel when the nurse reports death and punishment?
When the Nurse reports the news of Romeo's exile and the possibility of his death, Juliet is overcome with grief and despair. She feels that her life is over and that she cannot live without Romeo. She even contemplates suicide as a way to escape the pain of her situation. Later in the play, when Juliet learns that Romeo has been falsely reported dead and that he is actually still alive, she experiences a profound sense of relief and joy. However, she also feels a sense of guilt for having contemplated suicide and for having blamed Romeo for her troubles.
