Was the play Romeo and Juliet based on actual civil strife in 13th century Italy?

There is no historical evidence confirming any such event during that period in Verona or any part of Italy, but Shakespeare could have found inspiration from other sources about long term family feuds such as those from Verona, Italy's Della Scale and Montecchi familes
