1. Ponyboy and Johnny run away from home and find themselves in
Windrixville.
2. They meet Cherry Valance and Marcia, two Soc girls.
3. Ponyboy and Johnny have a tense encounter with a group of Socs,
including Bob Sheldon.
4. Johnny kills Bob in self-defense, and the two boys flee the town.
Chapter 4:
5. Ponyboy and Johnny hide out in an abandoned church, where they
are found by Dally.
6. Dallas Winston joins Ponyboy and Johnny at the abandoned
church.
7. Ponyboy and Johnny are reunited with their worried friends.
8. The Socs threaten to attack Ponyboy and his friends at the
drive-in.
9. Dally encourages Johnny to turn himself in to the police, but
Johnny is hesitant.
10. Ponyboy's brother Darry hits him for running away, but Ponyboy
stands up to him.
