What happened to dad in national velvet?

In "National Velvet," the father, Mr. Brown, does not have a major plotline or tragedy. He is simply a loving father who is struggling to make ends meet and provide for his family.

Here's what we know about him:

* He is a struggling farmer: The family is not wealthy, and Mr. Brown is constantly working to keep the farm going.

* He is supportive of his children: He loves his children and wants them to be happy. He encourages their dreams, even if he doesn't understand them.

* He is a bit gruff but ultimately kind: He doesn't always express his feelings openly, but he deeply cares for his family.

* He is impressed by his daughter's courage: While initially skeptical of her plans to enter The Grand National, he eventually supports her and is proud of her bravery.

He does not suffer any major hardships or losses in the story, unlike other characters like the horse, "The Piebald." Instead, he plays the role of a solid, supportive figure in his family's lives.
