Why did Jessica Brown Findlay leave Downton Abbey series?

Jessica Brown Findlay left Downton Abbey series because she wanted to pursue other acting opportunities. She felt that she had explored all that she could with her character, Lady Sybil Crawley, and was ready for a new challenge. Findlay also wanted to avoid being typecast in period dramas and explore a wider range of roles.
