Why does Juliet cry out in scene II O Romeo Wherefore why art thou Romeo?
In scene II of Romeo and Juliet, Juliet asks why Romeo must bear the Montague name, knowing the consequences that arise from their families' mutual conflict. Juliet wonders why fate destined that the person she will fall deeply in love with has to inherit the identity that could pose as an impending obstacle. By saying “wherefore art thou Romeo," Juliet is reflecting on Romeo's attachment to the name and whether her feelings would remain despite such circumstances.
