What is a good connection for Charles by shirley Jackson and miss awful arthur cavanagh?
The two stories have many similarities. First, both "Charles" and "Miss Awful" are told by a first-person narrator who does not name themselves, and both narrators are very close friends with their respective title character. Furthermore, both stories contain elements of the supernatural and/or horror.
In fact, the two stories are so similar that there are several critics that believe them to be the same story, just from two different perspectives. It is very possible that Jackson simply re-wrote the story and changed the characters in order to publish "Charles" in The Haunting of Hill House instead of in her short story collection.
