What were Friar ulterior motives for helping romeo and Juliet?

There is no indication in the play that Friar Laurence had any ulterior motives for helping Romeo and Juliet. He genuinely wanted to help them, and he believed that their marriage would bring peace between the Montagues and Capulets.
