What does hot seating mean?

Hot seating is a technique used in some forms of group therapy or personal development workshops where an individual (the "hot seat person") sits in front of the group and answers questions or engages in dialogue with the other participants.

The "hot seat person" may discuss personal issues, emotions, experiences, or challenges, and receive feedback and support from the group. Other participants may ask questions, share their own experiences, offer advice, or provide constructive criticism. The primary goal of hot seating is to facilitate self-awareness, personal growth, and healing for the person in the hot seat and promote connection and mutual support within the group.

Hot seating can provide an intensive self-examination for the participant in the hot seat and provide insight and support within a group setting.
