Who invented hot seating?

There is no specific inventor credited for the technique known as "hot seating." It originated from the concept of 'empty chair technique,' which was introduced by psychoanalyst Jacob Levy Moreno in his 1930s work on psychodrama. In psychodrama, an empty chair represents a significant person in the subject's life, allowing them to explore unresolved issues or conflicts.

Over time, the technique evolved into what is commonly referred to as "hot seating," where an individual plays the role of another person while discussing a specific topic or issue. The person in the "hot seat" responds as if they were the person they are representing. This technique is often used in group therapy or personal development workshops to facilitate deeper exploration and understanding of oneself and others.
