Were the audience allowed to eat at globe theatre?

The Globe theatre, one of the famous Elizabethan playhouses during Shakespeare's time, did not allow eating inside its walls. Eating was generally restricted to food stalls outside the theatre where patrons could purchase their meals. The interior of the Globe theatre was designed to focus the audience's attention on the stage, and any noise or interruptions from eating activities would have detracted from the performance.
