The Inferno is the first part of the Divine Comedy. It is set in Hell, which is divided into nine circles. Each circle is home to a different type of sinner, from the lustful to the fraudulent. Dante is guided through Hell by the Roman poet Virgil.
The Purgatorio is the second part of the Divine Comedy. It is set on Mount Purgatory, where souls are purified before they can enter Paradise. Dante is guided through Purgatory by the poet Statius.
The Paradiso is the third and final part of the Divine Comedy. It is set in Heaven, where Dante meets with the saints and angels. He is ultimately reunited with God.
