Why in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory did willy not explain about pink sheep?

Willy Wonka does explain about the pink sheep in the book. Mr Wonka describes the sheep as "The most important and most magnificent discovery of my entire career!" and gives a lengthy description of their magical properties. In the film adaptation, however, there is no mention of pink sheep.
