Matthew Charles Sanders (born July 31, 1981), known professionally as M. Shadows, is an American musician, best known as the lead vocalist, co-founder, and primary songwriter of the heavy metal band Avenged Sevenfold. He has been married to Valary DiBenedetto since 2009 and they have two children together, River James and Cash Richard.
