What are fairy chimneys:
Fairy chimneys, also known as hoodoos, are tall, thin rock formations with a narrower head and a thicker base.
They are formed when softer rocks, such as volcanic ash and tuff, are gradually eroded away by wind and water, leaving behind the harder, more resistant rocks at the top.
In the Cappadocia, where these are very abundant, they are created from volcanic ashes and lava that have eroded over time by the wind and water, particularly, the region was shaped millions of years ago after the eruption of Mount Erciyes, Hasandağı and Mount Güllü, three volcanos that surrounded the area.
