Brandy Rayana Norwood was born on February 11, 1979, in McComb, Mississippi. She is the younger sister of singer Ray J. Brandy began singing in church at an early age. In 1990, she moved to Los Angeles with her family to pursue a music career.
Music Career
Brandy's debut album, "Brandy," was released in 1994. The album was a commercial success, selling over six million copies worldwide. The album yielded her first hit single, "I Wanna Be Down," which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Her second album, "Never Say Never," was released in 1998. The album was also a commercial success, selling over five million copies worldwide. The album yielded the hit singles "The Boy Is Mine" (a duet with Monica) and "Have You Ever."
Brandy's third album, "Full Moon," was released in 2002. The album was not as commercially successful as her previous two albums but did spawn the hit singles "What About Us?" and "Afrodisiac."
Brandy's fourth album, "Human," was released in 2008. The album was her first album in six years and failed to make an impact commercially.

Acting Career
Brandy has also had a successful acting career. She made her film debut in the 1997 TV movie "Cinderella." She has starred in several other films, including "I Still Know What You Did Last Summer" (1998), "Double Platinum" (1999), and "Moesha" (2001).

Personal Life
Brandy has two children, both with producer Robert Smith. Her daughter, Sy'rai Iman Smith, was born in 2002. Her son, Quintin Kelly Smith, was born in 2007.
Brandy was involved in a car accident in 2006. The accident resulted in the death of a 38-year-old woman. In 2007, Brandy pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor hit-and-run charge and was sentenced to three years of probation.
