In the first year, in the third month,
On the fifth day of the month, I was born,
By the Chebar River among the exiles.
There the hand of the Lord came upon me,
And I saw visions of God.
I saw the heavens torn open and beheld a wheel,
A great and awesome wheel,
Full of eyes all around,
And within it, four living creatures,
With four faces each,
And six wings each,
And full of eyes all around.

Ezekiel saw a wheel,
A great and awesome wheel,
A wheel that never stopped,
A wheel that never slept,
A wheel that was always turning.

The creatures' appearance was like fiery coals,
And there was a glow around them,
And they moved with a flash of lightning.
They had faces of a lion, a man, an ox, and an eagle,
And they were covered with eyes all around,
And they had wings that touched each other,
And they did not turn when they moved,
But each went straight ahead.
(Verse 3)
The wheel moved with the living creatures,
And it rose up with them into the air,
They would stop only when they had reached the limit,
And they went with a loud noise,
And the sound was like a mighty army,
And they were full of eyes,
And they were full of fear,
And they were the wheels that ran to and fro,
And they were called Ophanim.

Ezekiel saw the wheel,
And he was awestruck,
And he knew that he was seeing a vision from God,
A vision of the heavenly realms,
A vision of the future,
A vision of the hope of God's people.
