How to Get Printable Lyrics

The music business has many subdivisions, each with its own realm of authority. For example, music publishers, not the record companies, own the right to publish lyrics. Publishing rights vary, and often ownership is shared between publishing companies and the artists who penned the lyrics. Many record companies, publishing companies and the artists who actually created the lyrics have sites with lyrics available to the public. You can use these sanctioned sites to get printable lyrics.

Instructions

      Navigate to the website of a music publisher, record company or artist that contains the lyrics you wish to print.

      Check the information on the page containing the lyrics to ensure you have permission to use them.

      Click and drag your cursor over the lyrics to highlight the portion you wish to print.

      Right-click the highlighted lyrics and select "Copy."

      Open the word processing program of your choice, click on the "File" menu and select "New" to open a new document.

      Right-click the blank document and select "Paste" to paste the copied lyrics. This will paste both the text and the HTML fields from the lyric site.

      Click the "File" menu, select "Save," enter a file name and save destination and click "Save" to save the lyric text.
