Write, perform and record some original rap songs. If you cannot rap, have someone else rap for you.
Market your talent online. Post demos of the rap songs that you wrote on your very own website or on a social network.
Join music forums and groups online. Make as many contacts and connections as you can with producers, managers and aspiring rappers. Let them hear your work.
Persevere and remain dedicated. You will not land a job right away. You have to be patient and work hard for it.
Build your reputation and client base by finding a rapper to write for. This person does not have to be a professional. He or she can simply be an aspiring rapper from your neighborhood. Make sure the person has great delivery skills, so that he does your lyrics justice.
Get to know the rappers you write for once you have clients. These artists normally have interesting or painful stories to tell, so their lyrics have to be written with heart.
Understand the rapper's vocal style. Find out how long he can rap without breathing. Be acquainted with his range and the tone of his voice, among other things.
Aim for excellence all the time. The more you write, the better you will get and the more ghost-writing projects you will get.
