I am the Monarch of the sea,
The Ruler of the Queen's Navee,
Whose glory is my aim and boast.
I sail wherever I please,
Upon every shore I seize,
And to ev'ry strand I approach
Proclaims my fame.
The world around does quake and bow,
As I upon my bulwark row.
And ev'ry knee, to me shall bend,
And cry "Hail to our Sovereign Lord!"
My brave, jovial boys, let your cannons roar!
Let me hear the noise of war,
And the thunders rattling from afar!
Let thunderbolts come rattling down,
And lightnings flash, and tempests frown,
And billows roll, and billows rise!
In vain thou roarest, winds and seas,
And vain thou tossest; with fierce breeze,
The foaming waves the bark oppress,
For still the bark thy rage defies!
Now all my cannons give a roar!
And let a thousand thunders more,
From ev'ry corner fly!
Then let him that's brave, defy,
And, boldly bear our standard high,
And smile amidst the glorious fight,
Like the red lightning in the night!
