Where did Michael Jackson first perform?

Michael Jackson first performed publicly as part of his family musical group, The Jackson 5, at a talent show in 1964 in their hometown of Gary, Indiana. The group, made up of Michael and his older brothers Jackie, Tito, Jermaine, and Marlon, won the show with their rendition of the Motown hit "My Girl". From that moment on, the Jackson 5 were locally recognized and went on to perform at various regional events and venues before signing with a professional record label and gaining worldwide fame.
