While Zac Efron did sing some of the songs in the movie, his voice was not as strong as Drew Seeley's. Therefore, Drew Seeley was chosen to sing the majority of Troy Bolton's parts, with Zac Efron lip-syncing to his vocals.
It's interesting to note that Drew Seeley also provided the singing voice for the character of Kevin in the movie Another Cinderella Story.
