Can a riff in music be sung?

A riff is a short, distinctive musical phrase or pattern that is repeated throughout a piece of music. It is often played on a guitar, but can also be played on other instruments such as the keyboard, saxophone, or trumpet. While riffs are not traditionally sung, there are some examples of songs that feature sung riffs. For instance, the song "Louie Louie" by The Kingsmen features a memorable sung riff that is repeated throughout the song. Similarly, the song "Smoke on the Water" by Deep Purple features a sung riff that is played on the guitar. Therefore, while riffs are typically instrumental, there are some instances in which they can be sung.
