How do you hook up an amplifier kit to stock radio?

To connect an amplifier kit with a stock radio, follow these steps:

Step 1: Prepare your Car

- Park your car in a safe and level location.

- Turn off the engine and engage the parking brake.

- Open the hood of your car and locate the car's battery.

- Disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical accidents.

Step 2: Locate the Radio

- Locate the car radio's wiring harness. It's usually located behind the radio faceplate. Refer to your car's owner's manual for the exact location.

Step 3: Access Speaker Wires

- Identify the speaker wires in the radio's wiring harness. These wires are typically color-coded, and may be labeled as "Front Left," "Front Right," "Rear Left" and "Rear Right".

Step 4: Connect Speaker Output to Amplifier

- Connect the speaker output wires from your car stereo wiring harness to the appropriate speaker input terminals on your amplifier.

Match the front and rear speaker wires correctly to ensure sound is played through the respective channels.

Step 5: Connect Amplifier to the Battery

- Run a power wire from the positive (+) terminal of your car's battery to the power terminal of your amplifier. This wire should have a relatively high amperage rating, typically around 4 to 8 gauge.

Connect the negative (-) terminal of your amplifier to a reliable metal grounding point in the car's chassis.

Step 6: Connect Remote Turn-on Wire

- Run a remote turn-on wire from the car stereo's remote output wire to the "REM" or "Remote" terminal on your amplifier. This wire activates the amplifier when the receiver turns on.

Step 7: Reconnect Battery

- Double-check all the connections to make sure they are snug.

- Reconnect the negative terminal on the car's battery.

Step 8: Test Your Setup

- Turn on the car and its stereo system.

- Play some music at low volume to ensure the amplifier is working correctly and there are no abnormal sounds.

Adjust the gain (volume) of your amplifier to match the rest of the car audio system.

Step 9: Installation

- Securely mount the amplifier in a suitable location in your car, ensuring its ventilation and heat dissipation.

- If needed, run speaker wires from the amplifier to your car speakers, depending on your preferences and amplifier configuration.

Step 10: Tune Your System

- Tune the amplifier's settings, such as crossover frequencies, bass boost, and gain, to optimize the audio quality according to your preference and speaker setup.

Note:

- Depending on the type of amplifier kit you have and the specific features it offers, there may be some slight variations in the connection process.

- If you are unsure about any of the steps or encounter difficulties during the installation, it is recommended to consult with a professional car audio expert for assistance.
