How to Mix Techno Music

Mixing techno music can be done by using audio and midi samples or songs. To mix a song it must be created and saved in parts. It is virtually impossible to remix a mastered audio or midi song; however, music production software such as Cakewalk, Pro Tools and Sonar enable you to edit and alter audio and midi based recordings. Techno music is energetic and fast paced, so you must mix the song correctly to maintain its musical values.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a music production program and import a midi or audio song. Create up to five new audio or midi tracks based on what song format you're using.

    • 2
      Adjust bass sound.

Find bass samples or bass sequence in the song and set the volume above all other instruments, between 75 and 85. Double the bass by copying and pasting to the track below it.

    • 3
Set the volume lower than the original.

Edit copied bass track by adding slight reverb and delay effect. Bring up a program mixer and set the track volume between 30 and 45.

    • 4
Pan drums 50 percent on each speaker.

Select the drum part of the song and copy and paste it to an empty track below. Use the "Pan" feature on mixer for the original drum track and pan to the right 50 percent with a volume of 65 to 70. Select copied drum track and pan 50 percent to the left with the same volume as the original drum track.
