Connect the turntable or vintage record player to the CD Recorder's input with standard RCA cables. The line can also run through a stereo receiver/preamp phono input jack. This way you can listen while recording without headphones.
Listen to a 78 while the recorder is in "Rec/Pause" mode to ensure everything was connected properly.
Set the recording levels on your CD burner while the record is playing (consult your CD burner's user manual for instructions; models will vary). The VU meters should never go into the "red" or the recording will sound distorted.
Insert a blank recordable compact disc into the CD burner.
Place the CD Recorder in "Rec/Pause" mode. Place a clean 78 RPM on the turntable.
Un-pause the CD Recorder as soon as the stylus hits the groove.
Press "Stop" on the recorder when recording is complete.
Press the "Finalize" button to finalize your CD. This process usually takes a couple of minutes and must be completed for the music to play on a standard CD player.
Eject the CD and label it with a soft felt-tip marker.
Load the CD into your computer's CD drive, open the audio editing software of your choice, and digitally remaster the music. Pops and noise can be removed, the speed adjusted and the sound compressed to convert to other formats such as MP3.
