Turn the audio volume up to a nominal level for your speaker setup. This will help keep distortion and noise minimal.
Place one of your large-diaphragm condenser microphones about 6 inches to 8 inches from the center of the right speaker. Center the approximate area of the capsule inside the microphone in the center of the speaker's grill.
Place the second large-diaphragm condenser microphone the same distance from the center of the left speaker. Center the microphone in front of the center of the speaker's grill.
Move away from the microphones and compare the distance between each one and each speaker. Make any necessary adjustments.
Connect the microphone in front of the right speaker to right channel of your stereo record device with an XLR or XLR to 1/4-inch cable.
Connect the microphone in front of the left speaker to the left channel of your stereo recording device with an XLR or XLR to 1/4-inch cable.
Set the volume level on each channel of your stereo recording device to a nominal level. Play the audio without recording it to check for appropriate volume levels on your stereo recording device.
Begin recording on the stereo recording device and start the audio on your computer. Stop the stereo recording device once the audio has been recorded, then stop the audio playback on your computer. This will prevent any clicks or pops.
