How to Make Alvin & the Chipmunk Voices in Audacity

Recording engineers make "Alvin & the Chipmunks" voices by drastically changing the pitch of normal vocal recordings. A popular example of this vocal effect appears in rapper Ludacris' "How Low." Whether you want to include the effect in a pop song or just want to have a little audio fun, you can make the "Alvin & the Chipmunks" voices in the open-source recording program Audacity. Audacity may be free, but it does offer the user the ability to change audio, including the ability to change pitch.
