When did ricky skaggs first record?

Ricky Skaggs' first recording was in 1969 when he was just 13 years old.

He recorded a single called "Crying My Heart Out Over You" for the "Mountain Home" label. However, it's important to note:

* This was not a commercial release: It was a demo, likely intended to get him noticed and potentially lead to a deal with a bigger label.

* His real "debut" came later: Skaggs' first commercially released record was in 1971, when he joined the "Country Gentlemen" band.

So while 1969 marks the start of his recording journey, 1971 is generally considered the beginning of his professional career.
